The rules of the road for the 35% first-month commission and 20% monthly residual. The signed partner agreement always governs, but this is what you're agreeing to in practice.
Who's eligible
U.S.-based individuals, agencies, or businesses that can legally receive commission payments and are not current Ortuas employees or contractors. You must be able to accept ACH, wire, or PayPal to a verified U.S. account in your name or your company's name.
Signed agreement required
Before any payouts, both sides sign a short partner agreement covering commission terms, attribution, tax reporting (W-9 for U.S. partners), and payment schedule. No long-term lock-in.
What counts as a qualified referral
A new business (not an existing Ortuas customer or previously-attributed lead) that you introduce, is recorded as the first qualified referral in the Ortuas CRM, books a demo, signs up, and completes a first successful monthly charge. Self-referrals and internal team referrals do not qualify.
Attribution window
Credit is based on the first qualified referral recorded in the Ortuas CRM. You get credit for any qualified referral that signs up within 90 days of first contact. First-touch attribution: whoever introduced them first wins, even if the sales cycle takes weeks.
35% first-month commission
Paid on the client's first successful monthly subscription payment. Not paid on setup fees, one-time services, hardware, refunds, chargebacks, unpaid accounts, or free trials. The 35% commission is paid 15 days after the first payment clears.
20% monthly residual
Paid on each recurring monthly subscription payment for up to 12 months, starting in month two, as long as the client remains active and paid. Residual pauses during any month the client is unpaid, on a free trial, or in a refund window, and resumes when they resume paying. Residual ends after 12 months or when the client cancels.
Payout schedule
First-month commission: 35% is paid 15 days after the client's first successful monthly payment clears. Monthly residuals: 20% is paid on Net-15 terms each month, starting in month two, as long as the client remains active and paid. Payouts under $50 roll forward until the balance clears the threshold. ACH is free; wire and international transfers may deduct third-party fees.
What voids a commission
Refunded first-month charges, chargebacks, fraud, incentivized sign-ups, cookie stuffing, paid search on Ortuas-branded keywords, spam, and any misrepresentation of Ortuas services. Residual ends when the client cancels, churns, or is terminated for cause.
Independent contractor relationship
Partners are independent contractors, not employees or agents of Ortuas. You cannot make promises, pricing commitments, or representations on behalf of Ortuas, and you must clearly identify yourself as an independent partner in any outreach.
Changes to terms
Ortuas may update program terms for future referrals with written notice. Approved existing referrals keep the terms they were approved under. Changes never affect commissions already earned on active accounts.
